A domestic cleaning robot must coordinate movement, obstacles and the area it can reach.
Cleaning around furniture
Domestic robots encounter furniture, changing room layouts and different floor surfaces. Navigation determines where the machine travels; mechanical design determines what it can reach and collect.
Neato’s products coordinated autonomous movement with the physical task of cleaning. The route, available battery capacity and cleaning hardware all contributed to how the machine worked in the home.
The life of a connected product
A connected appliance can depend on replacement components, repairs, software updates and remote services beyond its initial sale. The responsibilities around a product can continue after the business that developed it closes.
In October 2025, Neato announced the phaseout of its cloud services. The notice confirmed that the robots could still be started manually using the button on the device.
